Other Special Activities

  • Philanthropy Workday; Sew days are always a fun and productive day where guild members volunteer to sew quilt tops that will be finished later and donated to charitable organizations. Please join us for the 2014 sew days - (10 am - 3 pm) at the Orange Quilt Bee. Philanthropy also collects quilts, quilt tops, place mats, and pillow cases at quilt guild meetings. The donations are given to charitable organizations.
Fund raisers, such as our biannual auction and biannual quilt show also provide the funds to support our philanthropic projects.  Quilts made by guild members have been donated to CAST, OC Family Justice Center, OC Memorial Hospital Cancer Ward, Rady Pediatric Hospital in San Diego, and St. Joseph’s Adult Oncology Center. We have made pillowcases for CHOC, Hospice Touch, Laura’s House and Rady Pediatric Hospital. The OC Senior Center receives ongoing donations of placemats. And this year we made receiving blankets, burpies, and quilts for the baby showers for the wives of the deployed Marines from Camp Pendleton and 29 Palms.

  • Periodically there are additional activities offered by the guild. For instance, the Guild Challenge, the Biannual Quilt Auction or Quilt show and the Little Red Hen Auction at a selected guild meeting.
  • Secret Pals - Would you like to have a secret pal? Exchange Gifts each month with your new secret best friend. This is a fun way to get to know one of the other members of the quilt guild.
